Individual Therapy

Modern Therapy Madison provides individual telehealth therapy for adults throughout Wisconsin. Many of our clients are thoughtful, capable people who have spent so much time holding everything together for everyone else that they've lost sight of what they need themselves. Whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, burnout, stress, relationship challenges, or a major life transition, therapy offers a space to slow down, gain clarity, and reconnect with what matters most.

Our approach is collaborative, practical, and tailored to your unique needs. Together, we'll explore the patterns contributing to distress, build practical coping strategies, and develop skills that support meaningful, lasting change. Therapy is laid-back but direct, never sterile, and designed to help you feel supported, challenged, and empowered to move forward.

Rather than relying on a single therapeutic approach, therapy is thoughtfully tailored to your goals, preferences, and experiences. Depending on what will best support your needs, therapy may integrate evidence-based approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, body-based strategies, and principles of Integrative Mental Health.

Who We Work Best With

At Modern Therapy Madison, we work with thoughtful, capable adults who have spent so much time holding everything together for everyone else that they've lost sight of what they need themselves. Many of our clients appear to have it all together on the outside while quietly feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or stuck. Therapy provides an opportunity to slow down, gain clarity, and reconnect with yourself in a meaningful way.

You might be a good fit if you:

  • Feel like you're constantly "on"

  • Tend to overthink or overanalyze

  • Struggle to prioritize yourself without guilt

  • Are navigating a major life transition

  • Want practical tools alongside deeper self-understanding

  • Are looking for therapy that feels collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in real life

If this sounds like you, therapy can provide a space to slow down, gain clarity, and move forward with greater confidence.

Therapy Looks Different for Everyone

Therapy is more than talking about your week. Some sessions may focus on gaining new insight or exploring patterns that have been keeping you stuck. Others might involve learning practical coping strategies, processing difficult experiences, or finding a different perspective on a challenge you're facing.

Some days you'll leave with new tools. Other days you'll leave with a deeper understanding of yourself. Often, it's a combination of both.

There's no "right" way to do therapy. Together, we'll discover what feels most helpful in the moment and build on that over time. The goal isn't simply to feel better during the session—it's to create meaningful changes that support your life long after the conversation ends.

Our Approach

At Modern Therapy Madison, we believe meaningful change happens through a trusting therapeutic relationship. Therapy is collaborative, practical, and tailored to your unique needs—not a rigid process or predetermined plan. Together, we'll explore what's contributing to your challenges, deepen your understanding of yourself, and develop practical strategies that support lasting change.

Our approach is evidence-based while remaining flexible enough to meet you where you are. We value curiosity over judgment, progress over perfection, and creating a space where you feel comfortable enough to be yourself while challenged enough to grow.

Modern Therapy Madison welcomes and affirms members of the LGBTQIA+ community and is committed to creating an inclusive, respectful environment where every client feels seen, supported, and valued.

Integrative Mental Health

Mental health doesn't exist in isolation—and neither should therapy. An integrative approach recognizes that factors like stress, sleep, nutrition, movement, physical health, and relationships all influence emotional well-being. Alongside evidence-based psychotherapy, we consider the whole person to better understand what's contributing to your symptoms and identify practical strategies that support long-term health.

Integrative mental health doesn't replace traditional therapy—it enhances it. By combining evidence-based psychotherapy with a broader understanding of how lifestyle and overall wellness affect mental health, therapy becomes more personalized, collaborative, and focused on creating sustainable change rather than simply managing symptoms.
